Dan Nystedt has had trouble turning his camera off for almost 2 decades.  What began as a hobby has somehow managed to turn itself into a career.

For the past 7 years Dan has been interviewing touring bands as they have passed through his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie.  The end result of over 200 interviews is slowly transforming into a music series titled, …in the middle, with…

As a one-person production house, Dan has shot, directed and edited:

  • Over a dozen music videos for Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide, Shannon Moan, Inner City Surfers, and others.
  • A short documentary on The Group of Seven’s travels on the Algoma Central Railway titled, The Group of Seven & The A.C.R. : A Discussion with Michael Burtch.
  • Feature documentary about Canadian Artist Ken MacDougall titled, Ken MacDougall: The Enjoyment of Form.
  • Feature documentary examining the state of the Canadian Railway system titled, De-Railed: The National Dream.

Dan is currently scripting 2 projects, one original and one is an adaptation.  He is so far scheduled to direct 4 music videos this year and 3 promo videos.

Dan has also worked on feature films in different positions ranging from Assistant Editor to Directing E.P.K.’s.

Dan lives in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Canada.
